Dario Faini (* 1976 in Ascoli Piceno ), also known as Dario Dust or Dardust , is an Italian musician .

Career

As a child Faini learned to play the piano , later he turned to pop and electronic music . At the beginning of 2000 he made his debut as a soloist under the name Dario Dust and then founded the band Elettrodust , with which he successfully took part in rock music competitions. Appearances as the opening act of u. a. Elisa , Afterhours , Vasco Rossi , Planet Funk , Linea 77 and 2002 by Jimmy Somerville . On loan from Sony , the band released singles and an album, and DJ Fargetta made them better known on Radio DeeJay .

In 2006, Faini was hired as a songwriter by Universal Music Publishing . He subsequently wrote songs for a number of successful Italian singers, including Irene Grandi , Alessandra Amoroso , Emma Marrone , Annalisa , Francesco Renga , Chiara , Marco Mengoni , Noemi , Giusy Ferreri and Cristiano De André . Since 2012 he has been a frequent author at the Sanremo Festival . In 2014, Magnifico , interpreted by Fedez and Francesca Michielin , reached the top of the Italian charts for the first time, a song co-written by Faini . In the same year, Faini also founded the neoclassical - electronic music project Dardust , with the intention of combining minimalist piano music with Northern European electronic music.

In 2016 and 2017 other songs with Faini's participation reached the top of the charts : Assenzio ( J-Ax & Fedez feat. Stash & Levante ) and Riccione ( Thegiornalisti ). The musician made his first appearance as a conductor at the Sanremo Festival 2019 , and Mahmood also won the competition with the song Soldi co-written by Faini .
