Rkomi

Rkomi (* 19th April 1994 in Milan as Mirko Martorana ) is an Italian rapper .

Career

Martorana grew up in the Calvairate district of Milan. He dropped out of school at the age of 17 and initially worked as a waiter . He also dealt with Muay Thai , which strongly influenced him. Encouraged by his cousin, the rapper Pablo Asso, he finally recorded his first songs. His stage name is Verlan for his first name. After a first EP together with his cousin, Cugini Bellavita in 2013, Rkomi released the Calvairate Mixtape on YouTube in 2014 , with guest contributions from Tedua and Izi . It received little attention, after which the rapper withdrew completely for a while. Not until 2016 did he get back with the EP Dasein shall , the title of which goes back to a concept by Martin Heidegger . This was the first time that Rkomi attracted more attention, also from other rappers such as Sfera Ebbasta and Ghali .

In 2017 he got a contract with Roccia Music , the label of Marracash and Shablo . In September of that year, after various singles and guest contributions, Rkomi's first studio album Io in terra was released by Universal . It hit the top of the Italian album charts straight away.
