Negramaro is an Italian pop-rock - band . It was founded in 2001 in the province of Lecce , the name derives from the grape variety Negroamaro from that is there at home. The band members are Giuliano Sangiorgi, Emanuele Spedicato, Ermanno Carlà, Danilo Tasco, Andrea Mariano and Andrea De Rocco.

Band history

Frontman Giuliano Sangiorgi
Guitarist Emanuele Spedicato
Bass player Ermanno Carlà
Keyboard player Andrea Mariano

The group had their first appearances as the opening act for The Rasmus , Negrita or Afterhours . In 2001 she reached the finals of MTV Competition Brand New Talent . In early 2003, their first self-titled album appeared on the Sugar label , but it was not a success. After a tour, the band released a new version of the debut album in 2004, 000577 , in collaboration with Corrado Rustici . The song Come semper was selected by Alessandro D'Alatri for a commercial for the 50th anniversary of the public broadcaster RAI .

With Mentre tutto scorre Negramaro took part in the 2005 Sanremo Festival . Although the entry in the newcomer category did not even make it to the semi-finals, it was honored ex aequo with the winning song by Francesco Renga with the special journalists' prize. The song preceded the album of the same name and became the theme song of the film La febbre by D'Alatri. Both the album and the subsequent tour were a huge success. At Festivalbar the band was named Discovery of the Year for Estate .

After recording in Sausalito , California , still under the direction of Rustici, Negramaro released the album La finestra in 2007 , which reached number one in the charts. With the single Parliamen d'amore , the band won Festivalbar 2007. Other singles were L'immenso and Cade la pioggia , the latter with the participation of Jovanotti . The documentary Dall'altra parte della luna by Dario Baldi and Davide Marengo portrayed the history of the band this year and was presented at the Venice International Film Festival . Frontman Sangiorgi also recorded the song Senza fiato with Dolores O'Riordan for the soundtrack of Marco Martano's film Camorra Vendetta at the end of the year .

On May 31, 2008 Negramaro was the first Italian band to have a concert in San Siro in front of over 40,000 spectators, followed by a live album. The live presented Modugno cover Meraviglioso became the band's first number one hit. In 2010 the next studio album, Casa 69, was released, another number one album. Singles from it were Sing-hiozzo and Basta so (in a duet with Elisa ). In 2011 the band was responsible for a soundtrack again, this time for Michele Placido's Angel of Evil - The Story of an Enemy of the State . The following year the first compilation, Una storia semplice , a double album with six unreleased songs appeared. For the soccer World Cup 2014 in Brazil , Negramaro contributed the official anthem of the Italian national team with Un amore so grande 2014 (original by Mario Del Monaco ) .

In 2015 the new album La rivoluzione sta arrivando was released , which was preceded by the singles Sei tu la mia città and Attenta . This was followed by a multi-part tour.
