Alessandro D'Alatri (born February 24, 1955 in Rome ) is an Italian film director and screenwriter .

Life

D'Alatri was active as an actor for the theater as a teenager and also appeared as an actor in two films in the late 1960s. Professionally, at the end of the following decade, he initially specialized in directing advertising films . In 1991 he made his first feature film , which was well received by the critics, but was rarely shown. Senza pelle , created in 1994 , for the first time based on its own script, was then a great success, which succeeded in telling a story with artistic finesse and brilliantly fitting music. After a stay in the United States, documentaries and two participation in television series, he filmed an apocryphal Jesus story and, with his works created in the new millennium, was one of the most successful directors in his home country.

D'Alatri has received numerous awards, including the David di Donatello in 1991 and 1995 , the Nastro d'Argento in 1995, the Flaiano Festival and the World Film Festival in 2002 and the Sergio Trasatti Prize at the Venice Film Festival in 1998 .
