The film was praised in many reviews for its comical and critical view of modern Central European society. The Weser Kurier writes " Casomai is not just an enchanting love story, but also a highly topical film about love, which, despite a happy ending, leaves us with the guilty conscience of being comrade in a time hostile to love." The two main actors Fabio Volo and Stefania Rocca also get off well. The Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera writes "A political film because it tells of something that can be lost in everyday life ... Stefania Rocca and Fabio Volo both play great ...".
