Stefania Rocca
Stefania Rocca (born April 24, 1971 in Turin ) is an Italian actress .
Life and accomplishments
The daughter of a Fiat official and a fashion designer was born in Turin in 1971, where she grew up. Rocca studied dance, piano and singing at the Teatro Stabile in her hometown and went to Milan in 1989, where she worked as a photo model to finance acting lessons. Her later mentors included Beatrice Bracco, Dominique Defazio and later Susan Strasberg at the New York Actors Studio . In 1993 Rocca moved to Rome , where she received a scholarship from the renowned Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia and made her debut as an actress in the short film Effetto (1994) a year later . In the action film Palermo Milano - Escape from the Mafia (1995), she played alongside Giancarlo Giannini . In the drama Mut zur Liebe (1996) she took on one of the bigger roles, in the SF action film Nirvana - Hunt in Cyberspace (1997) she played a bigger role alongside Christopher Lambert . In the film adaptation of The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999), she appeared alongside Matt Damon , Gwyneth Paltrow and Jude Law . In Tom Tykwer's thriller Heaven (2002) she played a bigger role alongside Cate Blanchett and Giovanni Ribisi .
The comedy Casomai - Do we dare ?! (2002), in which Rocca played one of the leading roles, earned her a nomination for the Nastro d'Argento des Sindacato Nazionale Giornalisti Cinematografici Italiani in 2002 and a nomination for the David di Donatello in 2003 . She received her second Nastro nomination in 2004 for a supporting role in the drama La vita come viene (2003); her role in Cristina Comencini's Oscar- nominated drama La bestia nel cuore (2005) earned her another nomination for David di Donatello in 2006. In Abel Ferrara's drama Mary (2005) , she played a larger role alongside Juliette Binoche , Forest Whitaker and Matthew Modine .
Rocca became the mother of a daughter in October 2007 who came from a relationship with the businessman Carlo Capasa.
