Susan Strasberg (born May 22, 1938 in New York City , † January 21, 1999 there ) was an American actress .

life and career

Susan Strasberg is the daughter of Lee Strasberg , founder of the Actors Studio , and his wife Paula Strasberg . Born in 1938, she first played in a television production in 1953 and the title role on Broadway in 1955 in a dramatization of the book The Diary of Anne Frank , for which she received a Tony Award nomination. She lived in Italy for years and was called La Strasberg there. She wrote two books: Bittersweet , an autobiography, and Marilyn and Me: sisters, rivals, friends about her friend Marilyn Monroe . Susan Strasberg died of breast cancer on January 21, 1999 .
