Franco Brusati

Franco Brusati (born August 4, 1922 in Milan , † February 28, 1993 in Rome ) was an Italian playwright , screenwriter and film director .

Life

Brusati completed his studies in law and political science and initially worked as a journalist; after moving to Rome, he began working on film, initially as a writer and assistant to Renato Castellani . In addition to numerous scripts up to 1968, which he wrote for important directors such as Roberto Rossellini , Luciano Emmer , Alberto Lattuada and Franco Zeffirelli , he has made several films since 1955, including his own production. Often valued by the critics, Brusati, who evaded classification, also worked for the theater.

His film Bread and Chocolate won the Silver Bear at the 1974 Berlinale and a David di Donatello and the Nastro d'Argento ; I tulipani di Haarlem had already received the Golden Palm in Cannes in 1970 .
