Luciano Emmer (born January 19, 1918 in Milan , † September 16, 2009 in Rome ) was an Italian film director and screenwriter .

Life

Emmer broke off a law degree and was initially known for documentaries that he shot and produced from 1941; including quite a few on art subjects. With Enrico Gras he founded the “Dolomiti Film” for their production. He worked in this area of ​​his work until his death. In 1950 he turned to the feature film in the style of neorealism with the episode film A Sunday in August . The three follow-up films, including Die Drei vom Spanischen Platz , received above-average reviews.

In 1957 he was involved in the introduction of the 10-minute television program Carosello , which he is considered to have invented; the broadcast in the advertising environment, which experimented with new forms, animation and moderation, was continued until 1977.
