Bernard Fresson (born May 27, 1931 in Reims , † October 20, 2002 in Paris ) was a French actor .

Life

Bernard Fresson first studied Jụra and then came to acting through a student theater group. In 1956 he made his debut in Paris as a theater actor and two years later received his first roles in movies. It became famous in 1959 through Alain Resnais ' Hiroshima, mon amour . The two then worked together on other films.

Fresson has mainly appeared in political films, such as Resnais' The War Is Over (1966), It Rains Over Santiago (1975) and Z (1968). He established himself in entertainment cinema in 1972 with Serge Korber's candlelight . In it, he played the best friend of single mother Marie-Louise Boursault ( Annie Girardot ), who fell in love with her initially unruly film daughter ( Claude Jade ). If Fresson and Jade are a couple in the film, the seven-year affair between Fresson and Girardot begins during the shooting. In Das Mädchen und der Kommissar he was the petty criminal Abel, on whom the detective inspector Max ( Michel Piccoli ) puts the German prostitute Lili ( Romy Schneider ). In the US production French Connection II with Gene Hackman , Fresson acted on the side of the law in 1974. Christophe Gans ' Pact of Wolves is one of his latest film successes .

During his career, Fresson was nominated twice for a César for Best Supporting Actor.
