Cops , also Poliziotti - The word of honor of a Mafiosi (original title: Poliziotti ) is an Italian-French police thriller by the director Giulio Base from 1994.

action

Police officer Lorenzo "Lazzaro" Ferri courageously investigates a drug case that resulted in death on his own initiative. In the course of his investigation, he shot two people in an unauthorized operation, whereupon he was transferred back to the headquarters in Turin . On the train ride, the rebellious Lazzaro befriends his younger colleague Andrea Lazetti. A little later, both men are used to guard the notorious Mafia boss Carella, who is being treated as an inpatient in a hospital after a staged suicide .

One evening, the experienced Lazzaro leaves his partner Andrea alone with the manipulating Carella on guard duty, as he illegally wants to settle an old bill with a drug dealer called "Vampire" during working hours, which he succeeds. Meanwhile, Andrea is exposed to the clever tactician Carella alone. The mafioso uses a trick, gives him his word of honor and persuades his naive guard to go on a little excursion, which he uses to escape. Out of shame and a false sense of honor about the disappearance of his wards, Andrea takes her own life.

His friend Lazzaro is more than bitter about the suicide he was responsible for and decides to hunt down the fleeing mafioso driven by a thirst for revenge. He is given 24 hours. At the end of the film, he finally gets to the criminal's address via Carella's French friend Stella. After a brief duel, the policeman surrenders the fugitive to justice.

Reviews

The title already contains a translation error - it should correctly read : Poliziotti - The word of honor of a Mafio or similar . Mafiosi is the Italian plural; This has been corrected retrospectively for some Internet offers in the DVD trade.

The lexicon of international films wrote that the film was "a commercial police crime story ."
