Roberto Citran

Roberto Citran (born January 26, 1955 in Padua ) is an Italian actor .

Life

Citran graduated with a degree in psychology and was active in politics as well as in the university film club "CinemaUno" during his school and university days. From 1979 he played on the amateur stage with Vasco Mirandola as the comedian duo Punto & Virgola; they were often guests on television programs. Thanks to his friend from Padua, director Carlo Mazzacurati , Citran came to film. After a 16mm work he took on a small role in Notte italiana , which was filmed in 1987, and became the main actor in the following Il prete bello in the role of the pastor “Don Gastone”, who lost his heart to a girl during the times of fascism . In the following years Citran - tall, slim, with controlled diction and often consciously using his provincial origins - was hired by mostly young directors and played important roles in many notable works: the shower-obsessed actor in Little Misunderstandings , the father of the little one "Isacco" in A Little Crystal House , the eccentric in Chiedi la luna who lives in a hidden hut out of fear of his creditors , the telephone technician in Condominio . Citran was awarded the Coppa Volpi in 1994 for his performance in Il toro (as the modest, naive farmer "Loris") .

From the 1990s Citran also shot internationally, for example with Ewan McGregor and under Peter Greenaway , Terry George and Rob Marshall . In recent years there has been a tendency to participate in film adaptations of religious subjects.

Occasionally Citran also worked as a radio director and editor.
