Life

Mazzacurati graduated from the University of Bologna in literature and worked as an animator in a film club in his hometown. In 1979 he made his directorial debut, the short Vagabondi . His first feature-length film followed eight years later, Notte italiana , with which he immediately established himself as a sought-after director of the new Italian film. Other themes in the following films were the collapse of the communist systems in Eastern Europe, the attitude to consumerism and the development of industrial society, which he was able to bring to the screen in an entertaining manner, sometimes in comedic form; Mazzacurati always worked from his own script. Occasionally he has worked as a writer or performer for other people's films.

In 1994 Il toro received the Golden Lion ; several of his films took part in festivals and festivals as Italian contributions.
