Luciano Salce

Luciano Salce (born September 25, 1922 in Rome , † December 17, 1989 ibid) was an Italian actor , film director and screenwriter .

Life

Luciano Salce was a soldier in the Italian army in World War II and was taken prisoner by Germany in 1943 as an Italian military internee .

Salce made his acting debut after graduating from the Accademia d'Arte Drammatica with the revue "E lui dice ..." by Oreste Biancoli . In the following years he became a member of the ensemble of Vittorio Gassman / Evi Maltagliati / Luigi Squarzina and played alongside Vittorio Caprioli and Alberto Bonucci on a tour of France. During a stay in Brazil he made his debut (in addition to his theater work with Adolfo Celi ) as a director in two films.

Back in his homeland, Salce continued two activities: on the one hand numerous theater appearances, on the other hand stage directing work in which he staged satires and comedies as well as dramas. His cinema work also became more extensive; As an ironic and biting author, he wrote several scripts that dealt with current affairs in an intelligent-burlesque manner, which he mostly filmed himself (and in which he often wrote a role in the early years). In addition, banal commissioned work was also created.

After Salce suffered a stroke in 1981 , he died eight years later of a heart attack .

For some theater works in which he wrote for pop music, Salce used the pseudonym Pilantra . A documentary film, L'uomo dalla bocca storta, and a biography, Una vita spettacolare , are dedicated to his life and work .
