Shakin 'Stevens (2013)

Shakin 'Stevens (* 4. March 1948 as Michael Barratt in Ely, Cardiff ) is a Welsh rock' n 'roll singer.

Career

Shakin 'Stevens (1976)

It was in 1948 in Welsh born Place Ely. In the 1960s he played with his band as Shakin 'Stevens & the Sunsets. In 1969 the band appeared in the opening act for the Rolling Stones . In 1972 they were voted the best live band of the year by the New Musical Express . The band fell apart in 1976 and Stevens went on solo.

In 1977/78 Stevens played the leading role in an Elvis musical in London's West End for 19 months. He then sang in the international television series Oh Boy! by Jack Good on the music of the 1950s and early 1960s. Freya Miller, who was named Major Miller after Elvis' manager "Colonel Parker", took over his management.

From 1980 it was the rockabilly music of the time that brought Stevens into the charts. With numerous cover versions, "Shaky", as he has been called since his album of the same name, was not only successful in the British charts for years, but also on the continent. He was one of the teen idols in the early 1980s. With four number one hits and over 35 chart titles in Great Britain, he is one of the most successful solo singers. One of his greatest hits was the self-written piece Oh Julie (1982).

In the 1990s, Shakin 'Stevens calmed down, a change in style to country rock followed, and personal crises ensued. He regained his foothold in 2000, and in May 2005 he won a comeback show on ITV . In June 2005, the double-a-side single Trouble / This Ole House was released in the UK . Trouble is a cover version of Pink ; This Ole House got some overdubs .

Shakin 'Stevens live (2007)

After several unsuccessful attempts in the early 1990s to release an album, a new single and a new twelve-song album were planned for 2006 with Now Listen . After postponing the date twice, the album was released in Denmark in May 2007 , but without any further marketing campaigns.

According to his own statements, Shakin 'Stevens suffered a serious heart attack while gardening on his property in Windsor and had to postpone his anniversary tour and the release of a new album, which was scheduled for autumn 2010. On September 14, 2019, he appeared on the ZDF charity program for the German Cancer Aid "Willkommen bei Carmen Nebel".
