Kangaroo (tv show)

Kangaroo was a weekly music and joke show on ARD , which ran from January 31, 1985 to December 22, 1986. From the forerunner Bananas , Kangaroo took over the mixing of music and sketches and also included the musical guests in the uln numbers.

The 45-minute show was named after a kangaroo , who was always looking for eucalyptus sweets and had a hard time with the presenter Hape Kerkeling - for whom this show was the breakthrough. Other skits and roles in the show included a. a Spanish course, Siggi Schwäbli and the cheeky, red-haired brat Hannilein, one of Kerkeling's best-known roles. Rolf Spinrads was the director of the show .

Trivia

At the time the program was broadcast, the name of the program - alluding to the animal, which at that time was still spelled kangaroo - was (deliberately) misspelled in spelling. Only since the spelling reform of 1996 is Kangaroo also the correct spelling for the animal.
