Glashaus ( own spelling GLASHAUS ) is a German soul band under contract with the 3p label .
Band history
After Cassandra Steen signed with the music label Booya Music , but her career didn't really get going there, Moses Pelham became aware of the singer through a demo tape in 1999 and arranged a meeting between the two of them together with the music producer Martin Haas . Haas has worked with Pelham since 1989 and produced, among other things, the songs of Sabrina Setlur and the Rödelheim Hartreim project . Pelham and Haas recorded some songs with Steen as a singer, which were originally intended for a solo album by Steen. Since the three, according to their own statements, developed a kind of "soulmate" and Pelham also acts as a songwriter, they founded Glashaus together. In early 2001 the debut album of the same name was released, the first single, Wenn das Liebe ist , reached number five in the German single charts . At the VIVA Comet 2001 the band was nominated in the categories Newcomer national , Hip Hop national and Video national , but could not win a prize. Glashaus also received three nominations at the Echo Awards 2002 . The debut album was nominated nationally in the categories of National Newcomer of the Year and Group of the Year , while the single Wenn das Liebe ist received a nomination in the category of the most successful national song of the year . In the end, no prize could be won here either.
The follow-up album Glashaus II (Jah Sound System) was released on August 19, 2002 and was also able to place in the Austrian and Swiss album charts . At the German preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 , Glashaus appeared together with Sabrina Setlur and the singer Franziska and presented the song Liebe , but were eliminated with these after the first round. With the album Drei , released on May 9, 2005 , the band reached the top 5 in the German album charts for the first time, the lead single Hold the world reached number eleven in Germany. Due to Steen's solo career, no new album was recorded or further concerts played for the time being. However, there was no official separation of the band. In 2008 the singer Peppa became part of Glashaus, with her the band released the album Neu in November 2009 , which was commercially behind the three previous albums . At the end of 2016, Steen returned to Glashaus. In April 2017 the album Kraft was released , which was recorded in the old formation together with Steen.
style
Glass house music as a German- Soul , with religious texts and partial hip hop - beats described. In some cases, excerpts from the Bible are quoted in the lyrics . Furthermore, pop and R&B influences can be heard. The fourth studio album Neu also has some electronic influences. The German-language albums Glashaus encouraged many German musicians to write songs in their mother tongue.
