Spektacoolär was a German hip-hop band from Hannover , founded in February 1996 by Matthias Reinsdorf, Maik Jahnke, Ersen Eren and Jörg Pape.

history

Matthias "Chico" Reinsdorf, head of the mid-twenties group, worked as a producer and composer before it was founded. His close partner Maik Jahnke was an occasional singer and composer after dropping out in Sicily. The associated (and therefore mostly not shown in band photos) Ersen Ehren was German champion in freestyle dancing. Jörg Pape also worked in the background as a composer.

Her songs dealt with things that students and young people come into contact with on a daily basis, such as past love, aggression and violence among students and other torments of everyday life, which hit the tone of young people.

Awarding of the golden record to Spektacoolär

In 1997 the band played briefly in the soap offering Unter uns . In the same year she toured with Stefan Raab and Bürger Lars Dietrich .

Greater success celebrated Spektacoolär with the titles is everything good again , which made the band famous, and my little sister , with whom she landed a Top 10 hit, and for which there is a 1997 after more than 250,000 copies sold gold record was . Both tracks were first released as singles and then on the album 365 days released on February 16, 1998 .

According to Reinsdorf, My Little Sister , which is the subject of school violence, was “enforced against the will of the record company”. Ultimately, the success led to a public debate, in the course of which Spectacoolär was invited to talk shows, radio discussions and schools. In order to avoid the accusation of monothematic, less meaningful things can be heard on the album. Reinsdorf: "Here we show that we can do more than socially critical issues, for example also romance and irony." In addition , the song Ernie hat den Funk, written for Sesame Street , can be found on the album at the end (later also on the compilation Ernie, Bert, Hiphop & Co. 20 monster hits from Sesame Street ).

In 1999 the album "SO ULtimativ" was released, the graphic title of which suggests the contraction of the first four letters to form the word "soul". After self-initiated actions such as "Let the - no violence at school" campaign to Spektacoolär 1999 involved in the state parliament of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern as a patron mentioned Action Alliance "colored, not brown." The last album Spektakulös was released on May 8, 2000.

style

In the industry magazine MusikWoche it was said that the debut surprised with “well thought-out, varied arrangements, refreshing melodies and humorous rhymes”, which were composed of pop, soul and hip-hop elements. The style is reminiscent of Stefan Raab and Bürger Lars Dietrich, with whom Spektacoolär had already performed together. The Musikexpress said that the "poppy-smooth" purring hip-hop according to the " scheme F " is only something for teenagers , but not for seasoned hip-hop fans.
