Torches in the Wind was the official team song of the German national soccer team for the 2010 World Cup , which was written and recorded by the German rappers Bushido and Kay One . The single was released on June 25, 2010 and made it to number 6 in the single charts in Germany. A music video for the song was not shot.

As Bushido himself said in several interviews, he met the German international Sami Khedira at a concert. Khedira and Bushido got along well right from the start and had the idea that Bushido could write a song for the national team. This was originally intended as a personal gift for Khedira. During the tournament Bushido was told by telephone that the song had become a regular part of the cabin motivation. The DFB then blessed the song as an official team song. For the first time he came as such on June 3, 2010 in the 3-1 of the German national soccer team against Bosnia-Herzegovina in Frankfurt .

Bushido stated in several interviews that he had written the song with Kay One within about half an hour.
Chart placements
In Germany, the single went straight to number six in the German single charts on June 28, 2010 and was in positions seven and eight in the following two weeks. Overall, the song stayed in the top 10 for three weeks and in the top 100 for ten weeks. In its first week of sales, the song was also the most successful German-language single in the German charts . In Austria , the single reached number 52 on July 9, 2010, but left the charts a week later.
