Gheddo is a song by the German rapper Eko Fresh , on which he is accompanied by the rapper Bushido , and the first single from his album Hart (z) IV . The song deals with the social grievances in the Cologne district of Cologne-Kalk and was released as a single on June 4, 2006 via the Sony-BMG sub-label Subword. This reached number 15 in the German and number 40 in the Austrian single charts.

background

Eko Fresh, who comes from Mönchengladbach , had two chart successes in 2003 with König von Deutschland and I am young and need the money , and then in 2004, together with Valezka, the R&B- heavy album Life Of Valezka & Eko and the Turkish-language album Dünya Dönüyor - Die World turns published. The latter in particular turned out to be a commercial failure and in the German rapeseed scene Eko received considerable criticism for both works. Eko Fresh then moved to the Cologne district of Köln-Kalk, founded the crew German Dream and published the disstrack Die Abrechnung at the end of the year , in which he verbally attacked several German rappers. This title kicked off a beef wave in the German rapeseed scene, which caused numerous response tracks . One of these was The Judgment , published in early 2005 , in which Eko's former collaborator and promoter Kool Savas spent more than five minutes talking about Eko Fresh. The verdict was rated by critics as the higher quality title and one of the most important German-language disstracks of all time. For the rest of the year, Eko Fresh failed to make commercial solo releases.

For Gheddo , the first single of his second solo album Har (z) IV , Eko Fresh got the support of the Berlin rapper Bushido, in whose environment Fresh had already previously met with the common Fler -Disstrack Flerräter and his participation in the ersguterjunge -Labelsampler Nemesis . Bushido, together with Sido , is credited with establishing German-speaking street rapeseed in the first decade of the 21st century. In the German hip-hop scene, Eko Fresh was therefore again confronted with accusations that he would change his image too often due to the publication of Gheddo .

Emergence

Like the entire album Hart (z) IV , Eko Fresh recorded Gheddo entirely in the bedroom of the producer Kingsize.

content

Eko Fresh and Bushido represent a social problem area in Gheddo , whose life is marked by drug trafficking , prostitution and prison stays. In this context, the song also contains several direct allusions to Peter Hartz , the namesake of the labor market reforms of the early 2000s that became known as the Hartz Concept . The Cologne district of Gremberg is referred to in the song as "Grembranx".

In interviews, Eko Fresh emphasized that he wanted the song to be understood not as gangsta rap , but as “reality rap”, which reflects his personal impressions in Cologne-Kalk. He also described Gheddo as the most profound allusions on his album Hart (z) IV .

Track list

In addition to the album version of Gheddo , the single contains two remixes of the title. On the Turkish Remix, Eko Fresh, who is of Turkish descent, raps in Turkish and is accompanied by the Turkish-speaking rappers Ceza , Killa Hakan and Yener. Fresh is accompanied on the Evangelium Remix by German Dream members Capkekz , Farid Bang , Ice-H, Kay One , Muroh and Summer Cem . In addition, the single contains the songs I'm an Outlaw and a Dear Neighbor . In addition to La Honda, the American rap group Outlawz is featured on the track Ich bin ein Outlaw . Eko, who had repeatedly emphasized that he was an avowed fan of Outlawz member Tupac Shakur , who died in 1996, said he was fulfilling a personal dream.

With the exception of Ich bin ein Outlaw , for whose musical design Thai & Zero were responsible, all tracks on the single were produced by Kingsize.
