Werner Important

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Werner Important was the pseudonym of the German singer Raymund Thielecke (born January 15, 1962 , † October 6, 1992 ). The title Pump ab das Bier made it a one-hit wonder in 1989 .

Career

The trained wholesaler took on Pump ab das Bier in 1989 , a German-language cover version of the hit Pump Up the Jam by the Belgian dance project Technotronic . The single rose to the top of the German charts within two weeks in February 1990 and held that position for three weeks. A short time later the song reached number 3 in Austria and Switzerland. The single was produced by Frank Meyer-Thurn .

Werner Important first published the single under the name "Werner" and benefited from the cult of the time around the comic figure of the same name Werner . At the objection of the comic artist Rötger Feldmann alias Brösel, he accepted an addition to his name and was now called "Werner Important".

With his second single, Kebab (Now Coming Maradona) , an allusion to the Argentinian footballer Diego Maradona , which was released in time for the 1990 World Cup based on the Technotronic hit Get Up based on the same knitting pattern , Werner Important missed the charts. The publications Bumm Bumm Bumm (1991) and Let's Talk About Sex - German Original Version (1992) also flopped.

Shortly afterwards, after the end of his career, the then only 30-year-old died of a heart attack.
