From the same star is a pop song by the German duo Ich + Ich . The track is the first single from their second studio album of the same name, Vomsame Stern .
Music and lyrics
The music was composed by Florian Fischer , Annette Humpe , Sebastian Kirchner and Adel Tawil . The German-language text was written by Humpe and propagates peaceful coexistence in interpersonal relationships, regardless of age, skin color or nationality, because all people are "from the same star".
Recording and artwork
The song was recorded by Fischer, Humpe, Kirchner and Tawil; It was co-produced and mixed by Andreas Herbig. It was published by Polydor and distributed through Universal Music Publishing . Sebastian Kirchner on guitar and Harry Ermer on harmonica were hired as additional instrumentalists for the piece. The recordings took place in the Berlin recording studios Aquarium and Keller.
On the cover of the maxi single - in addition to artist names and song titles - I + I can be seen framed by plants and animals against a red background. The cover picture was shot by Kasskara and designed by Dirk Rudolph . The drawings of the plants and animals were taken from the work of the East Frisian pharmacist and editor of the Thesaurus Albert Seba (1665–1736).
Publication and promotion
The first publication of From the same star was made on 15 June 2007 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland . In addition to the radio version, the maxi single contains three further remix versions of Vom Same Stern as a B-side . In addition to the regular maxi single, there is a 2-track single with the radio version and a remix version. There is also an EP available for download which contains four further remixes in addition to the radio version. For promotional purposes one was vinyl record released, can be heard on the only remixes. On August 3, 2007, an acoustic version was released live from the rehearsal room for download.

Music video
The music video for From the Same Star became famous for its many faces of celebrities. When asked how this came about, Tawil explained in an interview with Norddeutscher Rundfunk : “We came up with the idea of making a kind of portrait video that morph into one another . And every character sings this song. And then we just called all our friends, people from Berlin, my whole family is there, the dentist. Of course, Annette also called Udo Lindenberg and Olli Dittrich and we were very happy that so many took part. That was three days of shooting, which were very, very funny. ”The total length of the video is 3:43 minutes. Directed by Katja Kuhl, the video was produced by Mutter & Vater Productions. The music video was nominated for the Echo Pop 2008 in the category Best Video (national) .
