Jürgen Mackert

Jürgen Mackert (* 1962 ) is a German sociologist . He is a professor at the University of Potsdam .

Life

Mackert studied sociology at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg , the Freie Universität Berlin and the Universität Frankfurt am Main (diploma 1994). He then went to the European University Institute in Florence ( DAAD ) and New York University ( Fazit Foundation ) as a scholarship holder . In 1998 he was at the Humboldt University of Berlin to Dr. rer. soc. PhD.

In 1999 he became a research assistant for general sociology and editor of the Berlin Journal for Sociology . From 2004 to 2005 he held the chair for structural analysis of modern societies at the University of Erfurt . In 2005 he completed his habilitation in Berlin. From 2007 to 2009 he was visiting professor for political sociology at the Berlin Graduate School of Social Sciences.

In 2009 he was appointed Professor of General Sociology at the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Potsdam . He was also deputy chairman of the examination board of the master’s degree in Military Studies . His main research interests include a. Migration sociology, political sociology and sociological theory.

As an author and editor, he has published several books and written articles in specialist journals and edited volumes.
