The second studio album by Ich + Ich , released on June 29, 2007, is of the same star . With over 1.2 million units sold, it is considered one of the most successful German-language pop albums in recent years. It is also the first album in 14 years that has managed to stay in the top ten of the German album charts for a year or more. This was last achieved by Ace of Base with Happy Nation .

According to Annette Humpe , the duo was “braver” on the second album and produced it more elaborately, for the first time live musicians such as a string quartet and wind instruments were used. Even pure tones were used. According to its title, the album, in contrast to the debut, should emphasize more what connects than what divides. Humpe had previously announced "protest songs" and made the announcement come true with the anti-consumption song Junk . Humpe said in an interview that there are too few protest bands today. At the end of the record when I'm dead , singer Adel Tawil said : "That was the hardest thing I have ever sung." Tawil said about the creation process:

“A new and especially the second album is always a very difficult album for a band. There was a lot of pressure on us and we tried to keep it away from us as best we could. But you can still feel it. "

The album became a huge hit for Ich + Ich, despite the fact that a major radio station refused to play the first single, From the Same Star , because advertisers insisted on English songs between their commercials. The singles on the album were on rotation on German-language music television . On Laut.de , Anja Lindenlaub called the album a mixture of “good mood tracks, protest songs and wailing ballads.” The first six pieces were “a good mixture of melancholy and fast pieces with meaningful lyrics”. The others Ballads lacked "the heart and honesty that could provide credibility". The last song when I'm dead moves "to tears".
