Rock for Nature

The Rock for Nature eco-open-air festival took place for the first time from August 21 to 24, 2008 in Wolpertshausen near Schwäbisch Hall . The motto of the festival was "Gen Tec - No thanks !!". Over 50,000 visitors were on site over the four days.

The festival is the first certified organic open air festival in Germany. The TÜV Nord has performed the certification.

On the fringes of the festival there were various lectures and discussions on the subject of "Gen Tec - No thanks !!". Speakers were Vandana Shiva (Alternative Nobel Prize Winner, India), Percy Schmeiser (Farmer, Alternative Nobel Prize Winner, Canada), Jeffrey Smith (Institute for Responsible Technologies, USA) and Aldo Gonzalez (Mexico).

Balance sheet

According to a report in the Stuttgarter Zeitung , the financial results of the festival were sobering. It was only saved by 46,000 free tickets. The organizer is now threatened with a large deficit, since 20,000 paying visitors would have been needed for a positive balance, but only 8,000 came.
