Radiopilot was a German band from Berlin . The group described itself as a pop band whose music is enriched with elements of rock .
history
The band Greensession is considered to be the forerunner of the band and , with the exception of today's singer Lukas Pizon, had the same band members plus changing singers. Greensession was founded in 1999, initially with German-language and several English-language songs, since 2002 only with German lyrics. Even then, various band competitions could be won. The singers included Tobias Heintz and later Shai Hoffmann .
In its current composition, the band was founded in 2005 by Lukas Pizon ( guitar , vocals ), Rafael Triebel (guitar), Benjamin Steinke ( bass ), Christoph Hengelhaupt ( drums ) and Florian Büttner ( keyboard ) under the name Kimono . With this name she successfully participated in the Emergenza competition and made it to the finals of the competition at the Taubertal Festival .
In the spring of 2006, Kimono was renamed Radiopilot, after which they took part in the John Lennon Talent Award competition, in which they took first place. In 2007, Radiopilot received a record deal with Sony BMG Columbia Germany.
The debut album Leben Happened was recorded from May 2007 to November 2007 at the Mohrmann Studio in Bochum together with producer OLAF Opal (including The Notwist , July ). The video clip for Foto von dir (Director: Waldemar Borth) was made during the recording . In November 2007, Radiopilot toured as the opening act for July , and the self-produced 1.21 gigawatt EP was distributed free of charge. In March 2008, Radiopilot also went on tour with Moneybrother .
In spring 2008 the download single Fahrrad was published on iTunes and other download portals . The accompanying video clip (director: Ole Ziesemann) ran on the music channel Yavido. Bike is also part of the soundtrack of the computer game FIFA 09 . Radiopilot then began a longer tour as the opening act for Ich + Ich . On August 1, 2008, the first physical single Monster was released, the accompanying video (Director: Daniel Lwowski) ran on the music channel MTV . "Monster" entered the German single charts at number 82.
On August 22, 2008, the band's only album Life Happened followed . The accompanying life-happens-tour started in December .
From December 2009, the band made a new song available nine times a month in the Radiopilot Singles Club for free download on their website. However, a second album was never released. After the band had been quiet for a long time, they officially announced their breakup in June 2013.
Since January 2010 Lukas Pizon has strengthened the Berlin creative department of the major publishing house Sony / ATV Music Publishing Germany as A&R manager.
Videos
In addition to the normal music videos, the band produced alternative versions for the fans. An example of this is the clip produced with Lego figures for the single Fahrrad , which was also shown on screens during the concerts. In addition, a few small video series were filmed on their own. Two works of art that were created as part of the Fahrradiopilot Rotes am Rad series were auctioned on eBay and the proceeds were donated to a traffic school in Reinickendorf . The video recordings were often actively supported by fans.
