Liam Tancock John (born May 7, 1985 in Exeter ) is a British swimming professional .

Career

His focus is mainly on the sprint routes of the back distances. At Exeter City Swimming Club he started his swimming career, which he continued at Loughborough University , where he studied sports science .
Tancock's breakthrough came on April 2nd, 2008 , when he set a new world record over the 50 m back at the British Olympiatrials . Just eight days later he reached another high point in his career when he won the gold medal over the 100 m back course at the 2008 World Short Course Championships in Manchester . With the qualification over the distances of 100 m back and 200 m medley for the Olympic Summer Games 2008 in Beijing he took part in the Olympic Summer Games for the first time. At the Commonwealth Games 2010 in New Delhi , Tancock won over 50 m backs and 100 m backs, with the 4 × 100 m individual medley he was third. At the following Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014 , he won gold in the 4 × 100 m individual relay relay and bronze over 50 m backs and 100 m backs.

Tancock is an athlete ambassador for the development aid organization Right to Play .
