The Europahalle Trier is one of three larger multifunctional halls in the independent city of Trier in Rhineland-Palatinate .

history

The Europahalle was built from 1975 to 1977 and was a replacement for the Treviris hall building on Jakobstrasse / Moselstrasse, which was demolished in 1974 . The opening of the Europahalle took place on October 1st, 1977.

The construction costs amounted to around 16.1 million marks (approx. 8.23 ​​million euros ), 80 percent was paid by the state of Rhineland-Palatinate . The construction of the Europahalle corresponds to the zeitgeist of the time.

The Trier studio of Südwestfunk opened in the Europahalle on October 29, 1977 and remained there until 1999.

The Europahalle is located on Viehmarktplatz and is structurally connected to the hotel complex on Kaiserstraße / Südallee . The Europahalle Trier and Viehmarkt Trier car parks are in the immediate vicinity.

The size of the hall is about 2000 square meters. It has a total of three event and conference rooms for up to 1200 people, with seats, and a maximum of 1500 people, without seats. In 2017, the standing capacity was set from the original 2000 to 1500.

The 7th episode of the ARD television program Auf Los geht's los with Joachim Fuchsberger was broadcast on October 29, 1977.

The ceremonial meetings of the Trier Carnival Society Heuschreck are recorded and broadcast on the local radio broadcaster OK54 .
