Liefers speaks at the major demonstration in Berlin on November 4, 1989

On November 4, 1989 - a few days before the fall of the Berlin Wall - Liefers took part in front of several hundred thousand people as a speaker at the Alexanderplatz demonstration , the final rally of the largest demonstration in GDR history, which was broadcast live on GDR television . He ended his speech with the words:

“The existing structures, the principle structures that have been adopted over and over again do not allow renewal. Therefore they have to be destroyed. We have to develop new structures for democratic socialism . And for me that means, among other things, the division of power between the majority and the minorities. "

After all, Ms. Merkel has him to thank for the fact that she was also bugged personally. "
