The Ferrero summer break

Ferrero is taking a summer break from selling Rocher - as is the case with other products ( Mon Chéri , Ferrero Kisses ). The product is not sold during some summer months, according to the manufacturer, in order to avoid quality losses due to large temperature fluctuations and intense heat. With the article Ferrero Garden Ferrero brought a kind of "Rocher for the summer" on the market, in which chocolate is dispensed with. This should especially appeal to customers who eat less chocolate in summer than in winter. This product was withdrawn from the market after a short time.

The summer break usually begins in April. The end of the summer break will be announced from mid-September.

Market placement of the product

Although Rocher is aimed at the mass market, Ferrero tries in advertising to present it as a product consumed primarily in high society . An advertising spot in which an ambassador serves his guests the Rocher pralines at a reception achieved enormous popularity, especially in the English and French-speaking regions. He has been parodied by several comedians.

Others

Hollywood actor Richard Gere received a fee of one million US dollars in 1999 for a Rocher commercial for the Italian market . Jan Josef Liefers has since appeared in two spots for the German market , first in 2009, then in 2011 in the spot “Not necessary”.

According to the inventor Michele Ferrero, the name Rocher refers to the Marian pilgrimage site Rocher de Massabielle in Lourdes, France.
