A protest march on July 2, 2005 formed a “white belt” around the center of Edinburgh

The campaign gained particular prominence in the summer of 2005 through protest marches in Edinburgh and the worldwide Live 8 concerts with an estimated 3 billion (television) viewers, which took place parallel to the G8 summit in Scotland . On June 11, 2005 in London, the finance ministers of the G8 countries decided to completely discharge 18 developing countries, including 14 African countries, and promised nine countries and “ultimately up to 20” other countries a similar procedure if the corruption in these states are effectively combated.

At the G8 summit in Heiligendamm 2007 , your voice against poverty organized a big concert on June 7th with bands, artists and personalities like Bob Geldof , Bono , Herbert Grönemeyer , Muhammad Yunus , Youssou N'Dour , Seeed , Sportfreunde Stiller , Beatsteaks , Die Toten Hosen , Jan Josef Liefers and many more. 70,000 visitors attended the concert in Rostock , the ticket cost € 2.50 processing fee.

The campaign gathered votes from thousands of people against poverty via an online form. World Vision Germany handed it over to Bernd Pfaffenbach , the responsible State Secretary in the Ministry of Economic Affairs, also known as the G8 Sherpa , on July 1, 2009 .

The white ribbon symbolized the joint global campaign to overcome poverty. It was worn by supporters of the action all over the world. On special days of action - so-called White Band Days - the concern of your voice against poverty was communicated .
