Action alliance against AIDS

The action alliance against AIDS is an amalgamation of over 107 non-governmental organizations involved in AIDS and development cooperation as well as over 280 grassroots groups in Germany who work in different ways on the topic of HIV / AIDS . The aim is to jointly contribute to coping with the global HIV / AIDS pandemic. The alliance was founded in Germany in 2002 and currently has three employees. The alliance of the same name in Austria was founded in 2004.

aims

The merger is intended to bundle specialist knowledge. Another aim is to achieve synergies that give the common demands weight beyond the general public. The action alliance against AIDS demands above all from the federal government to provide additional funds for the worldwide AIDS prevention and treatment.

organization structure

The alliance is divided into 4 pillars: grassroots groups, Protestant and Catholic organizations and civil society organizations. Each member belongs to one of these pillars and is represented with one vote in the annual general assembly. Members include a. action medeor , Doctors Without Borders , Bread for the World , Caritas International , German Doctors , Misereor and World Vision Germany .

Memberships

The alliance is a member of national, European and global networks, u. a. of the international Ecumenical Advocacy Alliance , as well as in the World Aids Campaign .
