action medeor eV (medeor: lat. "I heal") is, according to its own information, the largest medical aid organization in Europe and, as the "emergency pharmacy of the world", is committed to providing medicines and medical equipment, development aid projects and pharmaceutical advice for the health care of people in developing countries a.
history
On August 13, 1964, the organization was founded by Ernst Boekels in Tönisvorst - Vorst , where the association is still located today. In the early days, medicines were first collected, sorted and sent to health stations abroad. Since the medication donated often did not meet the needs of the health stations, it was decided in 1967 to produce the generic drugs required by ourselves . In 1974 the first 2,000 m² warehouse for medicines was built. In 1988, Else Eberle's legacy enabled the warehouse to be expanded and doubled.
In 2005 action medeor International Healthcare gGmbH was founded, a branch of action medeor in Tanzania , which supplies medicines and medical material to health facilities in the country via branches with its own drug stores in the capital Dar es Salaam as well as in Masasi and Makambako. Action medeor has also had its own branch in Lilongwe, the capital of Malawi , since 2015 .
In 2015 action medeor celebrated its 50th anniversary.
