Together for Africa

Together for Africa is a campaign by around 20 German aid agencies and non-profit organizations. The aim is to sensitize the German public to African issues and to improve living conditions in African countries. The association is responsible for the Association for Africa eV based in Tönisvorst .

Public and educational work

The aim of the campaign is to draw attention in Germany to the diversity, opportunities and potential of the continent of Africa. This is intended to counteract the image of a “lost continent”. With educational offers on topics of global learning, the campaign offers teachers and students in Germany suggestions for in-depth exploration of Africa in class. The patron of the campaign is Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier . The supporters also include Wolfgang Niedecken , Gentleman , Ivy Quainoo and Ischtar Isik.

Fundraising

The association solicits donations that go to the around 20 member organizations of the alliance and their projects in almost 50 countries in Africa and are used there in accordance with their statutes. According to the activity report, the association's income in 2016/17 was around EUR 1.5 million, of which around EUR 1,206 thousand was spent on project funding, EUR 214 thousand on educational work, EUR 107 thousand on fundraising and almost EUR 31 thousand on administration.

The chairman is Christian Molke, also a member of the board of directors of ADRA Deutschland eV Treasurer is Stefan Ewers, who is also a member of the board of CARE Germany-Luxembourg. The secretary is Anne Schmidt.
