action

The public prosecutor wants to put the mafia boss Mischa down with the help of several key witnesses . To prevent this, Mischa invites the Swiss lawyer Dr. Jürg Würsch enters his villa in Saint-Tropez . There he is said to have received a large sum of cash against the whereabouts of his key witnesses. Würsch is also hoping for a shepherd’s hour with Mischa's attractive wife Lydia and has engaged the two professional killers Ed and Mace to make sure everything goes smoothly.

It turns out that Misha's mother and Lydia are after the money too. The access code to the safe is, however, on the mileage of the car with which Lydia and Johann, their love affair, took a joyride, so that it has now been adjusted. When Misha's mother spots Ed in the garden, he accidentally pushes her off the terrace. Würsch and Lydia rush down to her and shut themselves out of the villa.

While Lydia walks to the yacht in the harbor, Ed tries to get into the villa via the chimney and gets stuck. It occurs to Würsch and Mace that Mischa's mother wore an electronic key around her neck that they can use to open the villa. They discover the hiding place of the safe by chance, and Mace remembers an overheard phone call in which Johann Lydia had told Lydia the number of kilometers of the jaunt. They open the safe and indulge in an orgy of alcohol and money while Ed remains stuck in the chimney. When Johann realizes that Lydia drowned because of the boat ladder prepared by Mace, he seeks revenge and drives to the villa. However, he is overwhelmed and tied up. A little later he drowned himself in the pool in an accident.

When Mace falls asleep, Ed advises killing him with almond liqueur, as it is allergic to almonds. However, Wüsch opts for knockout drops instead . At that moment Mace wakes up and forces Wüsch to ingest the drops himself. Mace toasts the already filled glass of almond liqueur and then shoots Wüsch with a harpoon in agony. When the village policeman arrives, he takes the cash lying around, but dies shortly after applying Mace's deadly lipstick. Finally, Misha arrives at the villa and examines the chaos. He takes a drink and sits down by the pool, but shortly afterwards he realizes that it is the glass with the knockout drops and falls into the pool.

When the mansion is unlocked, the fireplace is unlocked, so Ed is freed. He takes the money and meets with Lydia, who apparently has not drowned after all and turns out to be his lover. In order to remain free, however, he pushes her off the cliff and devotes himself to the canary that has been brought from the villa. Ed wants to give him freedom, but he beeps a certain melody, whereupon the pen in his hand injects a deadly poison into him.

reception

The film service saw the film "on the trail of Guy Ritchie's sardonic English thrillers ". Even “if everything doesn't always run smoothly from a dramaturgical point of view”, the “best-humored actors provide solid entertainment”.
