Colin Cotterill

Colin Cotterill (born October 2, 1952 in London ) is a British writer and cartoonist .

Life

After studying education, Cotterill started a world tour . For a long time he worked as a physical education teacher in Israel , as a primary school teacher in Australia , as a counselor for disabled students in the USA and as a university lecturer in Japan . In Southeast Asia he campaigned for the training and further education of teachers. On behalf of UNESCO , Cotterill wrote the 40-part language course English by accident for Laotian television. There he also founded a non-governmental organization committed to child protection. After leading this for two years and dealing intensively with the issues of child rights and abuse, he switched to ECPAT , an international organization against child prostitution and pornography.

To date (2014), Cotterill spends a large part of his time in Southeast Asia . In Bangkok he became a columnist for the Bangkok Post . There and in Phuket he came into contact with ECPAT and other NGOs that fight against the forced prostitution ( trafficking ) of young people and children.

Cotterill has been writing books since 2001. In the meantime, twelve novels, some columns and other publications have appeared, in which topics such as children's rights and descriptions of Southeast Asia can be found again and again. His cycle around the Laotian forensic specialist “Dr. Siri Paiboun ". His literary works have meanwhile been awarded several prizes and Cotterill is also in demand as a cartoonist. He has been drawing for various magazines since 1990 and has published his own volumes. Due to the success of his work, he founded the Books for Laos program, in which he and his fans donate books to Lao school centers.

Colin Cotterill is a second married and lives in a fishing village on the Gulf of Thailand .
