I + I is published on 18 April 2005 the first studio album by Ich + Ich . The first single was already getting better? decoupled.

Adel Tawil described the collaboration with Annette Humpe , whom he met in 2002 during a studio stay in Berlin, as a “normal employment relationship” from the start.

“I was completely unencumbered. I knew Annette Humpe, the story of Ideal , the great successes with Rio Reiser and the princes only casually. I played my sounds to her in the studio and she dealt with them quite critically. I just thought: 'She's got it and knows what she's talking about'. "

In view of their different musical interests - Humpe about Lou Reed , Adel Tawil Black Music and Hip-Hop - both decided to work out the songs until both were satisfied. The basic structure of the debut album was described as poppy, but not "chart-heavy", as it was often melancholy and with thoughtful lyrics. Adel Tawil sang and mixed, Annette Humpe wrote the pieces and partly took over the background vocals. Since the first tour of Germany following the album, Annette Humpe, who suffers from severe stage fright , has left Adel Tawil to perform live.

The reviews varied. Giuliano Benassi from Laut.de called the combination of the unequal Humpe / Tawil duo unusual "on paper". The resulting joint album "off the beaten track" deserves "quite attention". Ich + Ich only reached their limits with a few pieces, such as Fenster or How could that happen , the latter being similar to 80s pop. The rating was three out of five stars. On Plattentests.de Lukas Heinser gave only three out of ten points, called the album "cold coffee" and wrote: "The record is too bulky to let slip, too annoying to ignore."
