David of Lausanne

David († 850 ) was Bishop of Lausanne from 827 to 850 .

Life

David was elected Bishop of Lausanne in 827. Like all bishops of the Carolingian era , he was in the service of his ruler, Lothar I. He took part in the Council of Mainz in 829 and in the Council of Ingelheim in 840 . In 848 he supported Lothar in fortifying Rome and in the same year took part in a campaign against Benevento . According to his grave inscription, he fell fighting one of his vassals, the Lord of Tegerfelden .
