Hartmannus († 878 ) was Bishop of Lausanne from 851 to 878 .

Life

Hartmannus was the pastor of the Hospice Saint-Pierre de Mont-Joux ( Hospice on the Great St. Bernard ) before he became Bishop of Lausanne in 852. During his tenure he held two synods on the issue of tithing . During his term of office there was a dispute between Konrad , Duke of Burgundy, and Hugbert , brother-in-law of King Lothar II , over the diocese of Lausanne, in which Konrad prevailed. Hartmannus promoted the arts, he arranged for renovations and extensions of the Notre-Dame cathedral in Lausanne , where he was probably buried.
