Hilo Hawaiians
The Hilo Hawaiians were a German Schlager band that was active in the late 1950s and 1960s and produced music in the style of the then current Tiki culture , which was shaped by Hawaiian music . Together with other bands of this genre such as the Hula Hawaiian Quartet , they were very successful in Germany.
The band was founded by William Christopher Enoch Brown III, Bunny Brown for short, who was born in Hilo , Hawaii , in the mid-1950s. Other members were his sons Boysen, Bobo and Bill and his cousins Thomas "Kihei" Brown and Buddy Brown. Her first single Domingo Santo Domingo was released in 1955 and became a number one hit in Germany. She led the singles charts in November 1955. In the 1960s, the band released several albums with songs about Hawaii.
