Music and lyrics
Jive Connie is a medley of Connie Francis' songs Released in the 1960s Beautiful Stranger Man , Love Is a Strange Game , Barcarole in the Night , Paradiso and Napoli . The first two songs are German translations of two titles previously published in English, Someone Else's Boy and Everybody's Somebody's Fool . The second was conceived as a ballad at the time , but was significantly revised and rewritten for a release in German-speaking countries. The three remaining tracks were original compositions for the German market.
The title and premise of Jive Connie are an allusion to the music project Jive Bunny & The Mastermixers , which in 1989 and 1990 through its mashups in several European countries, including the German-speaking area, but especially in the United Kingdom , several top ten resp. could even land number one hits.
From Beautiful Stranger Man , Love is a Strange Game , Barcarole in the Night and Napoli only sounds the chorus, while the longest recorded song is Paradiso , of which a whole verse is sung, each of which is a performance of the chorus is outlined. The entire song is underlaid by a simple, driving drum rhythm that is only interrupted during the last lines of the Paradiso verse . A male voice repeats the exclamation “Jive Connie Jive” twice in three places: immediately before the first use of Connie Francis' voice, before Paradiso and in the last seconds of the song. The beginning of Love is a strange game and Paradiso is introduced with a short loop of a syllable of the text.
The individual songs used in the medley show little relation to each other in terms of content: Beautiful strange man and Barcarole in the night are about love for a man who is already in another relationship, Love is a strange game illustrates the peculiarity of love, To be able to bring both joy and pain, while Paradiso and Napoli sing about abroad, the former weaving a love story and the latter discussing departure.
