Ixtiyor Abdullayev

Ixtiyor Abdullayev ( Uzbek ; Russian Ихтиёр Абдуллаев Ichtijor Abdullajew ; born May 22, 1966 in Uchko'prik , Farg'ona Province , Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic , USSR ) is an Uzbek statesman and former head of the National Security Service of Uzbekistan. (2018–2019).

biography

Abdullayev studied law at Perm State University in the late 1980s . His professional career began as a bailiff in the City Court of Farg'ona . From 1993 to 2000 he rose from a simple advisor in the judicial department of the Farg'ona province to the chairman of the criminal court of that region.

Between 2000 and 2001 he served as chairman of the regional court of Andijon in eastern Uzbekistan , before he was briefly appointed (2001-2002) as deputy advisor to the Uzbek president for the coordination of law enforcement and control bodies.

From 2002 to 2006, Abdullayev was Uzbekistan's first deputy minister of justice. In 2007 he was reappointed Advisor to the President on Law Enforcement and Control Coordination.

In 2009, Abdullayev was appointed personal advisor to Islom Karimov .

By order of the President of Uzbekistan, Abdullayev was inducted into the Senate of Oliy Majlis of the second convocation in January 2010 . He was confirmed in office five years later.

In April 2015, Abdullayev was promoted to General Prosecutor of the Republic of Uzbekistan and held this post until his appointment as head of the National Security Service at the end of January 2018. In February 2019, Abdullayev resigned from office. According to his own information, his health problems (he had to undergo three operations on the neck, lumbar spine and eyes) prompted him to take this step. But there is a high probability that he has fallen out of favor with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev . Abdullayev is said to have ordered the phone calls of the President's family members to be tapped. Just one day after his release, a criminal case against Abdullayev for abuse of office and corruption was initiated.
