Paso Doble is a band of the Neue Deutsche Welle , which was founded in 1983 by composer , music producer and keyboard player Frank Oberpichler, b. Hieber (born May 9, 1957 in Paderborn ) and the singer Rale Oberpichler (born December 14, 1952 in Pinneberg ) was founded.

Band history

Before the band was founded, Rale Oberpichler worked as a background singer for Udo Lindenberg and Marius Müller-Westernhagen , among others , while Frank Hieber was already successful as a producer and composer: The title Major Tom (completely detached) , recorded with Peter Schilling , was on for eight weeks in 1983 Number one in the German single charts and the best-selling single of the year.

Paso Doble's first single Computerliebe was able to stay in the top 20 for several weeks in 1985 - at a time when the Neue Deutsche Welle was almost over. The following album and the eponymous single Fantasie could not repeat this success, neither could the single Herz an Herz . The following year the band was awarded the Golden Tuning Fork and won the ZDF hit parade .

Hieber then worked again as a producer, among others for Juliane Werding , Rolf Zuckowski , Stefan Waggershausen , Rio Reiser and Blümchen . Their cover version of Herz an Herz reached number four in the German charts in 1996, stayed in the top ten for seven weeks and was awarded a gold record . Rale Oberpichler worked successfully with Rolf Zuckowski. She embodied the bird mama in his bird wedding (1994). In addition, Rale's musical fairy tales were created with him in the 1990s .

In 1995 the chorus of the song Computerliebe was covered by the dance band Das Modul and was again represented in the German top ten.

It wasn't until 2008 that Paso Doble released a new album.

Frank and Rale Oberpichler are married and have a daughter.
