Between 1973 and 1975 they were able to place themselves in the German charts five times, reaching the top ten twice with Fahrende Musikanten and the German version of Paloma Blanca . At that time they were produced by Jack White .

Life

In 1963, Nina and Mike met. Mike was a guitarist in a band at the time and Nina joined as a singer. They married a short time later and had two sons, Ralph and Frank. In 1966 they began a singing career as a duo. They released their first single Alle young people as "Joe & Jenny" .

In 1969 they brought out two more singles under the name "Michaela & Lothar" (Sha-la-la-la-la and Himmelblaue Sommerliebe) . Then they were discovered in the ZDF program “Showchance” (title: Blowin 'in the Wind ). They received a record deal from the music producer Jack White and in 1970 the first single under the duo name Nina & Mike was released with Lola , a German cover version of the Kinks hit of the same name . However, the title could not place in the charts. The duo received greater attention in 1972 with their German cover version of the hit In the Year 2525 by Zager and Evans . Unlike the model, her song What will be in seven years does not deal with the future of mankind in the next millennia, but the next 100 years of love between man and woman. In 1973 the song The song of love goes round the world reached the top 20 of the German sales hit parade. In the same year they achieved their greatest commercial success with traveling musicians ; it stayed in the charts for 25 weeks and reached number 5. Through numerous concerts and television appearances (including over 30 appearances in the ZDF hit parade ) they were represented in the media. In 1974, Nina & Mike were awarded the “ Golden Europe ” of the Saarland Broadcasting Corporation for their work . With the title Paloma Blanca, the German recording of the hit of the same name by the George Baker Selection , they achieved their second top ten hit. After Cindy & Bert, Nina & Mike were the most successful Schlager singing duo of the 1970s.

In 1976 Nina & Mike took part in the German preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest and took fourth place with the title Come on with me . In the same year, Nina and Mike divorced, but continued to work together in the music industry. After the end of her collaboration with Jack White, Peter Orloff took on the duo.

In 1979 the couple bought a discotheque in Ludwigshafen am Rhein , which it operated until 1991. Many of her singing colleagues such as Wolfgang Petry , Jürgen Drews , Christian Anders and Jürgen Marcus performed in this disco club “Boa!” .

From 1993 Nina & Mike were produced by Peter Dörr. In 1999 they switched back to Peter Orloff, who together with them produced a German cover version of the ABBA hit I Have a Dream , Ich leb 'im Traum , and the Wanda Jackson hit Santo Domingo .

From 2003 Nina & Mike were briefly under contract with VanDango Media. In 2005, Nina & Mike wanted to celebrate its 35th anniversary on stage, but Nina died suddenly on 7 April 2005 with 59 years at a clinic in Wilhelmshaven to lung cancer . After Nina's death, Mike suffered from depression and alcohol problems . In 2013 he suffered a severe stroke that left him with paralysis on one side. Ten years after Nina, Mike died in 2015 at the age of 71. Mike was buried next to Nina in the cemetery of the Mannheim district of Käfertal .

In their career, Nina & Mike have recorded over 10 albums and more than 60 singles .
