Dorthe Kollo (born Larsen ; born July 17, 1947 in Copenhagen ), stage name Dorthe , is a Danish pop singer .
Life
Dorthe Larsen grew up in Copenhagen. She received her musical training from her father, who was the conductor of the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra . In addition, she learned acting, dance and pantomime . At the age of eight she recorded her first record Min Piphans in her native Denmark . At the age of twelve she got her first gold record for the title Åh, det er søndag (cover version of Oh Lonesome Me by Don Gibson).
In the early 1960s she came to Germany and in 1963 applied with the title A Lot of Admirers at the German Schlager Festival in Baden-Baden , but did not reach the final. In the following year, however, she had her first success with the title Young Man with Red Roses , which reached a remarkable 5th place at the 1964 Schlager Festival . This made her known in German-speaking countries. In 1965 she achieved 4th place with blond hair on the paletot and a swallow does not make a summer . She released her records under the name Dorthe .
In 1968 Dorthe had her first big hit with Are you the Count of Luxembourg? She had another success in the same year with Would you stay in Düsseldorf , with which she reached 2nd place in the German Schlager Competition in 1968 and won a gold record . Today, both titles are among the evergreens of German pop hits and, like the title Eine Schotte , which also dates from 1968, are in demand again and again in wish concerts.
With the hit His Highness, the Crown Prince , Dorthe had another hit in 1969. Other successful titles were the singles A pink apple tree , Mr. Schopenhauer was a very clever one , Chilli-Pfeffer , You have to go towards happiness or you bring sun into my heart . At the beginning of the 1970s things got a little quieter around Dorthe Kollo, but in the following years she kept recording tracks on records. She was also a guest in numerous television programs in which she sang her old hits, but also new titles. At the Kiel radio station NDR 1 Welle Nord she hosted her own radio program for seven years and got her own popular TV program Bi uns to Huus , which she presented once a month for four years. In 1980 she recorded a German version of Papa Pinguin , the Luxembourg contribution to the Eurovision Song Contest .
In the early 1990s she tried her hand at the popular sector. With Heimat is not just a word , she achieved 6th place in the Lower Saxony competition Lieder as beautiful as the north in 1991 . In 1993 songs as beautiful as the north she reached fourth place with There is a Nordic Sage .
In 2012 she published in her native Denmark, the swing album Lykken Ligger Lige Her (German: Happiness is here ).
Dorthe Kollo is one of the few pop singers who is still present on the radio today, although she has not had a hit parade for years.
