Emotions ( English for 'Emotionen') is a song by the German rapper Ufo361 that first appeared as a solo title on his fourth studio album, Rich Rich . With the German singer and rapper Celine , he recorded a sequel entitled Emotions 2.0 as a single, after which the complete work became the number one hit.

Creation and artwork

Emotions was written by Ufo361 himself - under his real name "Ufuk Bayrakter" - together with co-authors Sonu Lal ( Sonus030 ) and the producer duo The Cratez (consisting of David Kraft and Tim Wilke). The guest musician Céline , also under her real name “Céline Dorka”, appears as an author for Emotions 2.0 . Emotions and Emotions 2.0 were produced by The Cratez, Sonus030 and Ufo361. The mixing and mastering took place under the direction of the Berlin sound engineer Lex Barkey .

On the front cover of Emotions 2.0 you can see the artist names and the song title as well as the two artists. It shows the two standing side by side in the recording studio. From the beholder's point of view, Ufo361 is on the left and Céline is on the right. The photograph was made with a Kodak Portra .

Publication and promotion

The first release of Emotions took place as the album title on Ufo361's fourth studio album Rich Rich on April 24, 2020. Three days later, on April 27, 2020, Emotions was initially released as a video single on YouTube . About a month and a half after it was first published, Ufo361 recorded the sequel Emotions 2.0 with the German German pop singer and rapper Celine . The second part was released as a single on June 12, 2020 and cannot be found on any Ufo361 album. The publication of Emotions 2.0 was made as a single track for download and streaming . Both versions of the title were released under the music label Stay High Records. The distribution was carried out by Groove Attack , the pieces were published by BMG Rights Management , Perpetuum Edition and Ragucci & Boldt.

The first signs of the cooperation between Ufo361 and Céline, for the sequel Emotions 2.0 , appeared in the course of the publication of a posting by Ufo361 on May 31, 2020. He published the post "I miss you ..." via Instagram , and uploaded a picture of a wallet with the words "Celine" on it. A week later, on June 6, 2020, he posted the “Friday Emotions 2.0” post. Another day later, Celine published a picture of herself with Ufo361 from the recording studio and the words "Baby, take a sip of Dom P. for Emotions 2.0", an excerpt from the chorus of Emotions .

In Emotions 2.0 is the second collaboration between Ufo361 and a musician. The first time he recorded the title Traum for his third mixtape Ich bin 3 Berliner in 2017 together with Namika . For Céline, Emotions 2.0 represents the first collaboration with another artist.

Contrary to what the song title suggests, the lyrics to Emotions are in German . The title means “emotions” when translated into German. As with the title itself, there are several anglicisms in the lyrics , including: Baby ( English for 'darling'), Chains ( English for 'Ketten'), Drinks ( English for 'drinks'), Drip ( English for' drops '), Drunk ( English for' drunk '), Frozen ( English for' Frozen ') or Ocean ( English for' Ocean '). The music was composed by The Cratez, Sonus030 and Ufo361, the lyrics of Emotions were written by Ufo361 alone. In the sequel Emotions 2.0 , Celine also appears as a songwriter. Musically, the oeuvre moves in the realm of hip-hop and rap . The speed of Emotions is 132 beats per minute , that of Emotions 2.0 is 99 beats per minute. The key of both versions is in A flat major . Both versions of the topic are about a high that numbs the feelings after a breakup and the pain. Jewelry, expensive designer bags and travel are supposed to aid in intoxication, but the person longs for unfulfilled love. The music video for Emotions premiered on April 27, 2020 on YouTube . The video begins with a longer scene in which a woman can be seen lying on a bed and applying lipstick in the bathroom . In the following scenes you can see Ufo361 at different locations and in different situations, such as at a dinner, an evening together with several women, a photo shoot on the roof of a high-rise, in a room with chandeliers or on an airfield . The video ends again with the woman from the opening scene lying on a couch and busy with her cell phone. In the video itself, several products from Chanel can be seen. The total length of the video is 2:26 minutes. Directed by the team of 100 Black Dolphins. To date, the music video has over 6.7 million views on YouTube (as of June 2020).

In many remix versions, I often ask Jennifer Metaschk from the 1-Live editorial team what the added value of the productions is. The combination of Celine and Ufo361 would really upgrade the piece, however. The voices of both artists would complement each other “almost perfectly”.

Daniel Gerhardt from zeit.de described Emotions as an "unusually happy plopping" UFO piece that the chance of a "summer hit of the balcony dancers" is wasted. It is quite possible that Ufo361 only wanted to sprinkle a carefree party song on his album Rich Rich . If the protagonist increases the “dose” of his “baby”, the ice will not only thin in the cocktail glass without any final “clarity”.
