Black to blue is a song of the German reggae - and hip-hop - musician Peter Fox . The piece is the third single from his debut album Stadtaffe and winner of the Bundesvision Song Contest 2009 .

Creation and artwork

The song was written by Pierre Baigorry (Peter Fox), David Conen and Vincent Graf von Schlippenbach . The single was produced by Peter Fox and the Krauts . The mixing was done by Olsen Olic and the mastering by Sascha Bühren. The single was released under the Downbeat music label. On the black and white held cover the maxi-single - alongside artist name and song title - a big monkey head on a small human body to see. The artwork for the cover picture was done by Benjamin Kakrow.

Publication and promotion

The first publication from black to blue took place on February 6, 2009 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland . In addition to black to blue , the maxi single also contains the song Lok on 2 Legs (Beathoavenz Remix) as the B-side .

The music video for Schwarz zu Blau was shot at night in Berlin, and it shows a person with a monkey mask moving through Berlin. Time and again, animations can be seen in the background on wall facades or vehicles, in which Peter Fox also appears. The total length of the video is 3:31 minutes. Directed by Daniel Harder ; it was produced by SchuhWerkMedia .

Bundesvision Song Contest 2009

Peter Fox won the Bundesvision Song Contest 2009 for Berlin with 43 points ahead of the band Polarkreis 18 , who played for Saxony , with the song The Color of Snow (131 points). During the scoring of all 16 federal states , Peter Fox set himself apart relatively early on by a clear margin from his fellow competitors. In addition to his home in Berlin, he also got full points from Brandenburg , Lower Saxony , North Rhine-Westphalia , Rhineland-Palatinate , Saxony-Anhalt and Schleswig-Holstein . This was the fifth edition of the Bundesvision Song Contest .

For Berlin this was the second victory in the Bundesvision Song Contest history. For Peter Fox it is the first victory of the contest as a solo artist after winning with Seeed in 2006 .

For promotional purposes, every artist shoots an election commercial for participation in the BuViSoco. In it you can see Peter Fox together with Cold Steel, who are disguised as monkeys on an election campaign at a Berlin Christmas market .

Schwarz zu blau reached position three in the single charts in Germany and stayed in the top 10 for four weeks and in the charts for 26 weeks. In Austria the single reached position 17 in 14 chart weeks and in Switzerland position 36 in five chart weeks.

For Fox, after Alles neu and Haus am See, it is the third single within six months that was simultaneously placed in all three DA-CH countries. In Germany, it is the third top 10 success in a half year . Although the song did not make it to number one, it was still the most successful German-language song in the German single charts for a period of one week .

For Graf von Schlippenbach as an author, this is already the ninth chart success in Germany, the eighth in Austria and the sixth in Switzerland. It is his fourth top 10 success in Germany.
