The red sun of Barbados is a song by the German pop band Die Flippers . The piece is the first single from their 15th studio album Nur wer die Sehnsucht .
Creation and artwork
The song was written and produced by Karl-Heinz Rupprich and Uwe Busse . The single was arranged under the direction of Detlef Reshöft. The song was released under the music labels Bellaphon Records and CNR and distributed by Beliver Music. On the cover of the maxi single - in addition to the artist name and song title - the sunset in Barbados can be seen.
Busse originally wrote the song for the German pop band Fernando Express . But shortly before the recordings, the singer of the band disappeared, so that no recordings could be made. He then recorded the piece along with the flippers.
Publication and promotion
The first publication of The Red Sun of Barbados took place in May 1986 in Germany. A short time later, publications in the Netherlands and Austria followed. The maxi single was released as a 7 "vinyl record . In addition to The Red Sun of Barbados , the vinyl record features the song Summer with you as the B-side .

On October 15, 1986, Die Flippers took first place on the ZDF hit parade with The Red Sun of Barbados . The piece reached position 15 in the single charts in Germany and stayed in the charts for twelve weeks. In Austria the single reached position 27 in four weeks in the chart. Although the song did not make it to number one in Germany, it was still the most successful German-language single in the German single charts for a week . Furthermore, the single was able to place itself in the Dutch charts for a week (position 48).
For the Flippers it was the seventh chart success in Germany and Austria. In Austria they reached the official charts for the last time with the single. In the Netherlands, The Red Sun of Barbados was the only chart success of her career. Busse reached the charts in Germany for the fifth time and in Austria for the first time. As a producer, it was his first chart success in both countries. For Rupprich it was the second chart success as an author.
