Dolls United was a dance floor project that was successful in 1995 with remixes of songs from popular children's series. Her most successful song was an island with two mountains from the Augsburger Puppenkiste .

Band history

The first work by producers Sebastian Schoplick, Dominik Stahlschmidt and Martin Meinschäfer, the former singer of the German rock band Hob Goblin , published under the band name Dolls United , is a rock version of the Urmel song from the Augsburger Puppenkiste that was released in 1994 .

After other bands such as Cosmix or Sandmann's Dummies were successful with dance remixes from other children's series such as Sesame Street or Our Sandman , the second Dolls United release was followed by a dance version of An Island with Two Mountains from the puppet box adaptation by Jim Knopf and Luke the engine driver . With this title the project reached the charts in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. In Germany, the single was awarded a platinum record in 1996 for more than 500,000 copies sold .

This was followed by the title Blechbüchse roll! and the album Gut roaring !, which also contained some children's songs without a doll box reference. For the video clip on Blechbüchse roll! A three-headed show band was put together, consisting of a dark-skinned dancer with white hair (Suliman Snipes) and two pink-haired dancers (Gordana Stojanovic and Nicole Ganzhorn). These people were again omitted in the subsequent publications.

In 1996, the last Dolls United release for the time being, was the maxi CD We build a trap based on the song We lay a trap from Little King Kalle Wirsch . The versions created by the Dolls United team were only found later on the CD. The first track was a completely different version created by Tony Catania and Ingo Kays.

In the same year Meinschäfer, Schoplick and Stahlschmidt produced an album and a maxi CD with Käpt'n Blaubär . Both CDs were advertised on the cover with the note "Produced by Dolls United". The styles of various current music projects such as Scooter , Robert Miles or Tic Tac Toe were imitated in several songs .

Also in the same year they produced a remix of Hurra, hurra der Pumuckl ist da from the series Meister Eder und seine Pumuckl . Similar to We build a trap , the first song on the maxi CD was, however, a version created by other people. The track Looney Tunes Parade was produced for the sampler Bugs Bunny and his techno friends .

In 1998 Dominik Stahlschmidt tried his hand at a dance remix of Hey Pippi Longstocking in a pseudo-Mexican dialect under the name Mex United, based on Dolls United . However, the wave of nursery rhyme remixes was over by then.

On the occasion of the Urmel theater version produced by Sat.1 , a new version of the Urmel song was released in 2005 .
