Antonio ("Tony") Nunzio Catania , (born January 29, 1965 in Catania , Sicily ) is an Italian music producer , composer and musician . He lives and works in the USA and Germany.

Life

Tony Catania (also known under the pseudonym "Tom Civic") grew up in the city of Catania on the island of Sicily (Italy). He first played with various local bands in his hometown. At the age of 10 he founded his first band “Crash Group”. This formation played for two years for the private TV station "Telecolor" in the Italian edition of the Mini Playback Show. With his later band "TDF" he won the Rock Festival in Bologna in the late 1970s.

Tony Catania studied classical guitar, flute, piano and music history at the Conservatorio Di Musica Vincenzo Bellini, Palermo (Italy). He also completed training in audio engineering at the SAE Institute, Creative Media Education, Frankfurt.

In the mid-1980s, Tony Catania came to Germany and worked for and with Frank Farian on various successful music productions. In the early 1990s he founded his first own recording studio "Catania Music Studios" in order to concentrate on his work as a music producer , composer and musician .

In 1994 Tony Catania had his first international hit as a songwriter and producer with Scatman John . More successful songs and two albums with Scatman John followed.

In 1997 Tony Catania (as Tom Civic) discovered the rhythm and blues singers and dancers "R'n'G", composed and produced them. Within a short time they could u. a. Celebrate national and international success with the titles “Rhythm of my Heart (TikTak)”, “Darlin ... I Think About you”, “Open up Your Mind”, “Here comes the Sun”. In 1998 the album "The Year of R'n'G" was created.

Tony Catania developed his own style after Scatman John and R'n'G. He works primarily in the genres of pop , pop-rock , R&B, dance and hip-hop .

In 2005 he set up another music studio in Florida (USA). He lives and works there, but is still active in Europe.

Tony Catania met his wife Ilona in 1990 in Germany. Since 1992 they have jointly managed the music studios “Catania Music Studio”, Germany and the USA. Tony Catania and Ilona have been married since 2006.
